Hello everyone! Hope you all are having a fantastic week. I finally have some time to write, which is one of my favourite things to do. This week has been crazy because the beginning of a new year in the marketing world means that ‘sleep is for the weak’. AMEN.

To honour this lazy Sunday, I’m going to write about some of my morning rituals!

Aside from my alarm going off & my puppy instantly jumping on my bed to give me morning kisses, I have a morning routine that I stick to everyday.  Since I was a kid, I have always loved having and sticking to a routine. It becomes habit and if I skip out on something I am accustomed to doing, I feel incomplete.

 
















1. Remind myself of something I am T H A N K F U L for.

Every morning, before I manage to drag my body out of bed, I take a few minutes to think of at least one positive, thankful thought. It can be anything - even the smallest of things. By instantly putting my mind into a positive thought, it almost sets the tone for the rest of the day. Instead of thinking about the busy day ahead and perhaps the things I would rather be doing (like going back to sleep), I remind myself of the important things.

This morning I told myself how thankful I am for fresh towels. The ones that are still warm and smell like spring. (When I say the little things in life…).

2. Drink warm water with L E M O N.

When I get out of bed, I always head straight to the kitchen to put on the kettle & prepare warm lemon water. I always have lemons in my fridge. I slice them up and put a few pieces to boiling water. Sometimes I will also add a few organic mint leaves.

 

















Lemon water does wonders for the human body - there are so many benefits.  Drinking it first thing in the morning kicks your metabolism into gear, rehydrates the body after a nights sleep and assists in flushing the digestive system. It is also an excellent way to flush toxins out of the body & fight free radical formation.

3. Wash my face & M O I S T U R I Z E.

After I wash my face, I always apply moisturizer before applying any of my makeup. Right now I am obsessed with Neostrata’s daily moisturizer.

My skin gets incredibly dry - especially in the winter.  Because I apply my moisturizer right after I have washed my face with warm water, my pores are still open and the cream is absorbed immediately.  This particular moisturizer does not leave my skin oily, but it leaves it feeling “dewy” and hydrated. I love it.

4. Eat a healthy B R E A K F A S T.

It really is the most important meal of the day. I adore breakfast foods - I really could eat them for every meal, everyday.

















Typically I make a smoothie because it is quick and I can take it on the go when I have to leave for work. When I have more time & don’t feel rushed, I will whip up some egg whites, oatmeal, yogurt & granola or avocado on sprouted toast. YUM.

When I start my day with breakfast that has a mix of protein and complex carbohydrates, I feel fueled to take on my day. I am not left feeling hungry & my metabolism is elevated. I can concentrate & I feel energized!



These small things I do everyday make a huge impact on how the rest of my day goes. I strongly suggest you try them!
