Taking vitamins is something I make priority every time I wake up. After I have finished sipping on my lemon water (my morning ritual), I reach for my vitamins. Starting my day off pumping my system full of essential nutrients and minerals I need to thrive gives me a boost to tackle the day.
The point of this blog post is not to give you a simple list of the vitamins I take. Why? Because everyone has different dietary needs and personal opinions. Yes - you can get a majority of vitamins and minerals through the foods you eat. However there are certain things that your body could use more of, or vitamins that can aid in the absorption of other vitamins and minerals.
I was asked the other day by a friend what is the one vitamin or supplement I take daily that I could not live without.
This is a simple. It is something I think everyone should supplement into their daily dose. I believe everyone should take a Probiotic.
This is not necessarily a supplement that comes to mind for everyone. In fact, I only began taking a probiotic a few years ago. I was put on an antibiotic to treat a sinus infection, and the doctor recommended that I take a probiotic to replenish my system with healthy bacteria. Soon after, I was hooked and amazed at the profound benefits it had on my body.
These benefits go beyond gut health. We all know probiotics, simply put, are healthy bacteria that are good for our insides and help us break down the food we eat. But what else does it do?
Probiotics not only aid in our digestive function that helps to keep us ‘regular’, but actually helps to modulate our immune system. Simply put, probiotics help our immune systems function properly and adapt to changes, which benefits other parts of our body (even those organs unrelated to the gut).
