My intention with this blog post is to not present you with some typical “new year, new me” promises.
Planning and having the opportunity to approach a new year with purpose has always played a significant role in my days leading up to New Year’s Eve. I always set out resolutions and goals that I will strive to accomplish before next year rolls around.
I am attacking 2017 in a new way. I have decided that I am going to take this next year to better myself and do exactly what makes me happy. No, I am not going to “cut out sweets” or “drink more water” (two of my resolutions last year).
This year I am laying out guiding principles, and words to live by that I will use on a daily basis. Time is not something we are all guaranteed, and I plan to surround myself with like-minded people who are positive and uplifting. I want to spend every day bettering myself not just physically, but mentally, as well. I have become good at saying goodbye to toxic and negative people in my life. I will continue to spend time with people who lift me up, inspire me to be a better person and appreciate the little things in life that are often overlooked.

Commitment to: Reminding myself that the past is the past. Every day is an opportunity to change your life and who you are. I plan on focusing more energy on my emotional well-being.
